Harriett "Gidget" Loomis, our CEO, is the inventor of our first product, CloudCush™. As the owner of a small custom sail repair and canvas business, Gidget, as she is more commonly known, has been a problem solver and designer for years.
As we suspect often happens with great ideas, her creation of CloudCush™ happened quite by accident. While working outside her business, one of her co-workers returned to work after carpal tunnel surgery. She was in agony using her mouse with her wrist and scar tissue being dragged all over the desktop by her mouse. Gidget immediately saw a solution to help her out. She asked the co-worker to try a design that she rigged out of paper. It made such a huge difference, that Gidget went home and that evening created the first mouse cushion. Her co-worker's difference in productivity and pain level were huge, and she continues to use the original edition. "You should sell these," was the frequent comment, and the seed was planted!
For the next few years, Gidget started learning about product development, patenting, trademarks, and most importantly, saw what other products were on the market. Her discovery was that there was nothing else like it out there! That remains true to this day! All other products continue to put pressure on the carpal tunnel region, when in reality, they are supposed to help relieve that pressure.
After putting more thought into it, she designed our patent pending split top unique mouse cushion design that includes a channel area taking all pressure off the sensitive areas of the wrist. She then exhibited at a Hand Therapist's convention and got rave reviews on her product. After a period of a year where she percolated on her idea, she realized she needed help on the sales and marketing side, which was when Deborah came on board. Over the past six months, CloudCush™ has been refined even more. We have looked at different materials and ways of working with the foam and fabrics so that CloudCush™ has become a specialty cushion. It includes materials that are soft and gentle to the touch, with a firm base that glides effortlessly when used, providing a pain free and/or preventative experience for anyone who uses and needs or wishes to use a mouse cushion. It also comes in two sizes to conveniently fit all wrists, and attaches to any mouse. At this writing, we are focused on getting the word out about this product, however Gidget already has some new products perking that will continue to help those with ergonomic health issues and functionality.
In her off time, Gidget is an avid sailor and racer, considers herself to be an environmentalist who believes in minimizing our impact on our world, and does work with her local land trust board. Contact Gidget at .
Deborah Middleton, our VP of Sales and Marketing, has spent her entire career doing just that. One could say it all started when she was a child selling lemonade and her homemade cookies to the neighborhood! Deborah, or Deb as she is often called, started out doing “normal” jobs out of college, and was quickly bored, and as she would now say, “unemployable.” She tried a new route and was a Sales Director with an MLM. This morphed into becoming an Executive Recruiter for an Executive Search firm. With her training under her belt and experience with two other firms showing her a different vision of how Executive Search firms could be run, she branched off into her own business in 1991. Deb ran a successful firm providing highly personalized services to a broad range of businesses both small and Fortune 500, for 20 years.
Deb worked with all business positions with the exception of engineering, and worked in retained search only. As a result, she is extremely well connected in business and understands its complexities. She also has consulted on recruitment strategy with startups such as T-Mobile and Apex learning, and has done training in those companies, as well as for firms such as Washington Mutual Bank and Tully's Coffee.
In Deb's off time, you can find her joining Gidget sailing, walking her dog, cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends. Deb is also an environmentalist, and she has a love of the wilderness and the ocean. Her other love and devotion is to animals, and she tries to make a positive difference in particular to abused animals.
At the beginning of 2011, Gidget and Deb joined forces professionally. This unique partnership brings two friends of 40 years together in yet another capacity.
